Ballyhogue Galbally ARA Trip on the River Barrow.
Cars met at the car park nearby Colgan’s Kelly solicitors New Ross at 9.30am
All 9 ladies dressed well marched with humour towards the marina.
              10.15 we were taken on board on Barrow Princess. We rushed to the top deck to      enjoy sun.
We were sitting next to each other and had wonderful conversation full of laugh and joy while listening to the guide and taking pictures of the river landscapes.
            Time passed unnoticeably and we were in Waterford marina nearby the Tower hotel.
           Margaret OLeary: The commentary was clear, loud and gave us a lot of historical facts       decision was taken on the ferry that first we will feed our body and then we take care of our spirits. So, we went to Granvill Hotel for lunch.
We saw the business activities in port area. The Rose Fitzgerald bridge, the huge feat of engineering in the old railway bridge. many remains of old Norman castles and towers
We saw a place called Ennis castle where Strongbow and Aoife were supposed to have lived.
Ann Marie was forced to buy lovely top-quality curtains, Mary P a brand-new designer’s bag and myself a hat and a small bag that turned out to be a kind go kidney bag! Yippie!
Our journey on the Barrow Princess from New Ross to Waterford was a relaxing and enjoyable experience, offering beautiful scenery and a fascinating glimpse into the history of the River Barrow and River Suir.
We boarded the boat at the Three Sisters Marina in New Ross on a bright morning. As the boat gently left the harbour, we were welcomed by friendly crew members who made everyone feel comfortable and safe. The boat has a cosy indoor lounge as well as an open-air upper deck, giving passengers excellent views throughout the journey.
As we cruised along the river, we passed some of the most scenic landscapes in the south-east of Ireland. We enjoyed views of green woodlands, salt marshes, historic castles, and peaceful riverside villages. One of the highlights was sailing beneath the impressive Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Bridge and passing the historic Barrow Railway Bridge. Along the way, we also spotted a variety of wildlife, including herons, egrets, and even seals.
The onboard audio commentary shared interesting stories about the history of the rivers, the local area, and the important role these waterways played in Ireland's past. The captain also answered questions and shared some personal stories about life on the river, making the trip even more enjoyable.
After about two hours, we arrived in Waterford, Ireland's oldest city. We had time to explore the city's shops, cafés, and historic attractions before continuing with the rest of our day. The entire experience was peaceful, informative, and suitable for people of all ages.
Overall, the Barrow Princess cruise is an excellent way to experience the natural beauty and rich history of the south-east of Ireland. We would highly recommend this trip to anyone looking
